Dell Optiplex GX260

Dell has made quite a breakthrough in this model.

It's black.

It's slim.

It's Dell.

With a S478 Motherboard along with a powerful combination of processing prowess of the Pentium 4 and the Intel 845G chipset, this PC is not money flushed down the toilet.

Wtih 2.0 Gigahertz of processing power, the GX260 is still running alongside the all famous Core2Duo. With up to 2.6 Gigahertz of upgrade ability for the processor, Dell has made sure that the user will not be left behind.

Also, the motherboard of the GX260 supports memory capacities of 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB all of which are running at 266MHz,summing up to 2 Gigabytes of memory power. Now that's what I call POWER!
With 2Gigabytes of Memory, the GX260 can compete alongside the Core2Duo without any drawbacks.

One drawback on the GX260 is the option for the video card. With such a slim body for the case, only half - sized video cards around 6.35 cm high * 16.76 cm long can be installed. Also, with only its Accelerated Graphics Port*AGP* slot running only at 4x, graphics processing is rather slow. Though not completely since it also depends on the card that will be placed.

But why force yourself to place an AGP video card while there is alread an Integrated Intel Graphics card? It is already on the motherboard and saves you the headache on maintaining heat temperature in the unit.

With two PCI slots, you can add a PCI Modem, and maybe a PCI Wireless Card as well.

Integrated AC'97 Codec with Sound Blaster Emulation for the Sound, the GX260 rocks the way it is! No need for PCI Sound cards just plug in your Speakers, or headphones in the front and the Stereo in at the back and your GX260 is ready to rock some music.

Overall, the GX260 is a Medium range PC for the typical PC User.
And even if it doesn't have warranty from DELL Computers, "YOU" have the power to get Unlimited Support from Dell's support site http://support.dell.com/

There you can download drivers, manuals, and can find solutions for almost any problem that you may encounter with your GX260.
